For much of her legal career Suzanne lived in Switzerland, on the Haut Plateau in the Valais wine-growing canton, working for an NGO and then for Swiss Reinsurance in Zurich. She returned to the United States in 2007. Suzanne, husband, Dani, and toy schnauzer, Arneis, settled in the Colorado Rockies where she now writes while remaining connected to the legal profession.
In 1999 Suzanne and Dani started travelling to Piemonte, where they developed close relationships with the families who have been growing grapes and producing wine in the Langhe and Roero areas for generations. Only in the past 40 years have the wine family women begun to step out of the shadows and their role in the making of this wonderful wine fully acknowledged.
Suzanne’s first book, Labor of Love: Wine Family Women of Piemonte, which tells the stories of 22 of these families, will be printed in Verona, Italy and published in Barbaresco on 2 June 2016.
